Apsley Autumn Studio Tour, September 17-18, 2022   Summer issue of Apsley Backroads –  Clare Scott-Taggart

The warm summer months in the North Kawartha’s are filled with lake and cottage activities, friends and family, barbeques, fish

fries, and all manner of relaxation and fun. For the 29 artists of the Apsley Studio tour, these months are also filled with great creativity and hard work as we prepare for the fast approaching annual fall tour.

Happily, the pleasure of being in the studio – be it for painting, carving wood, or making jewelry – is a lovely and welcome part of a maker’s life, and one which few artists would relinquish. The studio is the place where an artist feels most themselves, the bricks and mortar incubator of the artist’s creativity.

The Apsley Studio tour presents the opportunity to see the space where ideas come to fruition. This self-guided tour of 12 studios includes 29 artists working in a wide variety of mediums, from felting and soap making to metalwork, photography, watercolours and hot glass. We welcome you to visit our studios and workshops, and hope you will join us in celebrating the creative spirit.

The Apsley Autumn Studio Tour runs September 17 – 18, from 10 AM to 5 PM daily. For more information about the studios and participating artists, please visit apsleystudiotour.com. The link to our handy new downloadable app and map can also be found on our website.

Also, congratulations to Arthur Meddings who received the Art Award this year at Apsley Central Public School.  This award is sponsored each year by the Apsley Studio Tour group and Scott at Victory Art Supply in Peterborough.
