Woodworking
Britt has always had a desire to make. As a graduate of Sheridan College, Craft & Design Program in Furniture, Britt employs traditional woodworking techniques in making her functional designs. Wood is the material that has allowed her to express some of her ideas. Britt enjoys making custom furniture for clients, in an old school manner. Beginning with meeting the client, normally in their home, and then drawing by hand the design, the client catches a glimpse of what she is thinking. Britt then makes the piece using traditional joinery to ensure the object is made to last. When she is not creating furniture for clients, Britt enjoys making small batch production items. These include baby rattles, handbags, ear rings, spurtles, charcuterie boards and many other functional objects. If the objects she makes can introduce pleasure or playful interaction into daily tasks, she feels a sense of contribution and satisfaction. During these most unusual times, Britt is so grateful for her craft.
