Makers Making: Tom Parsons – Woodworking
Welcome to Parsons Wildwood Designs, specializing in handcrafted solid wood furniture made from one of a kind pieces.
Using live edge lumber, burls and highly figured woods, Tom designs functional pieces for home and cottage. From coffee and end tables, charcuterie and cribbage boards to sculptural works, he is inspired by the beauty of wood in its many forms. From twisted gnarly roots that may become unique table legs to burl slab table tops highlighting incredible grain, pattern and colour.
Tom has been working with wood for many years, inspired by his father who taught him the importance of showcasing the unique features of each piece and of using traditional techniques such as mortise and tenon joinery.
Tom enjoys working collaboratively with clients, who are able to choose from a wide range of wood species, grain patterns and designs.
He is excited to be part of the 2021 Studio Tour, along with guests Brendan Cane (photographer) and newcomer and talented painter Barbara Miszkiel. Work will be showcased at his unique post and beam studio on the shores of Looncall lake.
