A Creation Story

My work is developed “cold”, meaning I compose with pieces of glass, as well as crushed, and powdered glass and then fire it in a kiln.  As the design develops in layers, what is below becomes obscured.  Because it can be interesting to see the “before and after”, occasionally I take a picture of a glass composition just before it is fired.

I photographed this piece before placing it the kiln with two other larger ones, and through mishap, this was the only one that emerged from the kiln intact.

I named it Grace, because of its quiet, mystical beauty, and because it had survived “Trial by Fire”.
